► Summer 2011:
'Friends of Marconi Park' (FMP)
S The SPCCA has joined together
with the SCSSD, the Parks and Recreation Dept.,
LOMO and M.A.R.C.O. (Marconi Area
Residents Civic Association) to revitalize Marconi Park. The
initial phase is focusing on tree trimming to improve existing
lighting (which will reduce potential for crime), replacing benches
and reviewing water sources for trees and future plantings.
S
Any proposed plans will be approved the participating
neighborhood associations whose boundaries touch the park on both sides of
Broad street.
S
The FMP have been meeting regularly to review and analyze
possibilities for this beautiful area in our neighborhood. Both the
SCSSD and the Parks and Recreation department have been strong and
informed partners. They are thoroughly researching suggestions
and requests for improvement that have been submitted for the park.
► Spring 2011:
Reorganization and planning of the SPCCA Underway with
our neighbors
S We are looking with our
neighbors at what new committees should be formed to best serve the needs

nominations and elections of new officers.
S We have begun establishing

East Passyunk Crossing,
Whitman Council, etc.)
in order to share information, resources and grow a better South
Philadelphia.

Spring 2010: BOK Field Bus Drop Off / Rowdy Students Watch
S Signs have been installed along Bigler
St. for 'No Bus Parking'.
S School buses are supposed to be dropping off students and
players at the 10th Street entrance. They sometimes stop at
the 11th & Bigler gate (which is not supposed to be used for this purpose).
Several neighbors are monitoring and documenting this activity and reporting
this to the Philadelphia School District.
S Also, neighbors are monitoring and documenting any disruptive
activity by students before or after the games. They are reporting this to
the principal of the school district involved and the Philadelphia School
District.
